Wood Wick Candle Care
For Best Results: Use a lighter to light the wood wick
Using a long handled lighter instead of a match will allow enough time for the wick to light.
Allow the wax to pool
Light the wick at one end and allow the flame to flow naturally across the wick. Make sure that the wax melts to the edge of the candle before extinguishing. (this may take between 30 to 60 minutes) Allowing the wax to pool will ensure the candle does not "tunnel" or leave wax on the sides of the vessel. The flame height may vary at times, and occasionally even appear to self-extinguish, but this is normal. Even if you are experiencing a "low" flame, it will continue to heat and the flame height should return. The candle performs best when the candle remains lit for 3 to 4 hours.
Keep the candle in sight & away from drafts
Always place the candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface, and make sure to keep the candle away from children, pets, materials that can catch fire, and other heat sources.
Never move the candle while it's burning or still hot
To be safe, only move the candle once the flame is extinguished and the wax has cooled. Pouring or removing liquid wax from the vessel could cause the wick to extinguish or "drown" in the wax and affect the future burn quality of the candle.
Do not trim the wick
Due to the nature of the wooden wicks, the wick is unlikely to need trimming. The only exceptions are when the flame exceeds 1 inch or the candle begins to smoke. If the flame is too high, carefully extinguish the candle, allow the wick and wax to cool, and trim the wick to 1/4 inch by gently breaking off the burned edges of the wick with a cloth or paper napkin. Remove and discard all wick trimmings before relighting the candle.
When to discard the candle
When there is approximately 1/4 inch of wax remaining, it' s time to stop using the candle. Extinguish the candle and recycle the vessel according to your local recycling center instructions.
